Crisis Generation

In his book “The Laws of Human Nature”, author Robert Greene points out that the generation we are born into shapes our thoughts and values, whether we are aware of this or not.

"Certainly we bring our own individual spirit into play in this drama, and to the degree that we can cultivate our uniqueness, we will gain power and the ability to direct the zeitgeist. But it is critical that we recognize first the dominant role that our generation plays in our formation, and where this generation falls in the pattern.”

Our task therefore is threefold. First, alter your attitude towards your own generation. You are as much a product of the times as anyone.

Second, pay close attention - look at the trends, fads and events that consume our times. Look at the heroes and icons we glorify. Find the pattern that will characterize this moment.

Third, expand this knowledge to something further. Identify how the generational power dynamic is shifting in the present and you can develop a sense of where the world is headed.
